John began teaching and baptizing because he was instructed to do so. We don't know how he was told to do so, whether it was from the mouth of God Himself or from a messenger of God (angel). Last week, we got off to a good start. The kids are enthusiastic about their new classroom and the new way of doing class. Today we will talk about Jesus' birth being announced. Today starts a new quarter. We will be studying the divided kingdom. One thing I wish I had concentrated on during our study of the united kingdom was the map of that time. Here I go again with another lesson plan after the fact. I got busy making the arts and crafts project for tonight. Yes, you heard that right. I did an arts and crafts type project with my 7/8 year olds. I so rarely do this that kids were thrilled. For me to do something like this it has to meet some criteria. It can't take up too much time. It has to be something they will want to keep.

Tonight we will talk about how Saul disobeyed God again when fighting the Amalekites. Again Saul takes it upon himself to do what he wants to do. One of my students made my day Wednesday night. She said that her teacher at school was teaching them about different religions around the world. The teacher told the kids that we don't worship all of their gods, we follow the 10 commandments.
