AFter taking a full week off from teaching to attend Singing School, I'm ready to get back to action. During the week I was gone, the class studied the last part of Elijah's life. Then, the Sunday I came back we studied Elisha. We had to cover it all in one class period due to our regular Wednesday night singing. Now we're on to Jonah. It's times like these that I have to remind myself that Bible class is/should not be the only place the children are learning about God. Hopefully, in most cases here, they are learning at home as well.
Psalm 1: Read it from the back of their notebook. Say in unison what we've memorized so far. If anyone would like to say the memory work on their own, we'll give them time to do that.
Review: Review the whole Bible story using the timeline on the wall as a guide.
Bible Story: Read/paraphrase the book of Jonah.
Map work: Talk about some of the key places on the map. Take off 2 or three labels per student and let them see if they can remember where to put them.
Worship Notes: Pass out worship notes.
Sing: Sing: Jonah
