Saul Is Anointed

Well, the quarter is finally beginning to feel comfortable. It always takes me a little while to get into a new subject or a new grade level. It helped this time that I was able to plan the some of the entire year out. I like to know where I'm going. The curriculum we use plans the individual lessons for me but I like to have a bigger picture going. That's what the memory work/notebooks, and the Wall of Faith have done for me.

Lesson Plan:

Review: Spend time reviewing the Bible story up to where we are at. Concentrate on the stories of Samuel.

The lesson: This lesson is about Saul being anointed. I have Wednesday night to cover it as well but I hope to get the entire story in today.

Pocket book: We have another page to add to our pocket book. This one has small pockets for God, Samuel, Saul and the Israelites. There are a total of 20 cards that the students will decide which pocket they go in. Some of the statements on the cards are what the person said, some are what the person did. This page is glued to the back of the other 2 pages forming a pocket book about Samuel.

Memory work: Read Psalm 23 together.

Singing: I think we'll sing The Love of God tomorrow (I think that's the name). It has the phrase: I will hide it in my heart that it never may depart. The bulletin board that I finally finished has Psalm 119:11 on it: Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. As I was putting the bulletin board up, this song kept popping up in my head. So we'll sing it tomorrow. It is in 4/4 time so I'll have to introduce that pattern to them.

Worship Notes: Pass out and discuss the worship notes. I got 2 of them back last week. I hope they will all start participating in this. My main reason for having this activity is to get them involved in the worship service. If they are writing down things about it I know they are thinking about it. Hopefully, they'll hear the preacher say some things that they are copying and it will make a connection in their brain.

Prayer: I lead and prayer and class was dismissed.
